Need a new notebook hard drive and cloning software

nicehat

My current hard drive is about to fail and im looking into replacing it with this

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136856&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL120313&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL120313-_-EMC-120313-Index-_-LaptopHardDrives-_-22136856-L05B

Any thoughts on this selection? I need it to be fast and reliable, but cheaper than an SSD

My current drive is 5400 rpm and produces almost no noise. Would a notebook with a 7200 black hard drive be noisy or is the difference subtle? I also need some cloning software to carbon copy all my shyte to this once its installed. What do you suggest for this?

PS I think my laptop comes SATA II ready. What are the performance increases of 3 vs 6 Gbps? Alot? Negligible?

AMD FX-8350 @ 4.7Ghz when gaming | MSI 990FXA-GD80 v2 | Swiftech H220 | Sapphire Radeon HD 7950  +  XFX Radeon 7950 | 8 Gigs of Crucial Ballistix Tracers | 140 GB Raptor X | 1 TB WD Blue | 250 GB Samsung Pro SSD | 120 GB Samsung SSD | 750 Watt Antec HCG PSU | Corsair C70 Mil Green

Sata 2 to Sata 3

280Mb/s Max to 550Mb/s Max

VERY Noticible in certain uses..

That being said, my i5 laptop, had HUGE speed increases and instant usability in windows using  Sata 3 cheapo SSD in my Sata2 enabled laptop.

Having a 7200RPM drive will be an improvement, but it will still "appear" slow because SSD's instantly access data, where mechanical HDD's take a lot longer to find the data...

Very worthwhile!

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Blacks are typically noisier and run warmer than blues. You'd be better off to get a Scorpio Blue if you want it to be quieter, but the black for a little extra speed.

And with mechanical drives, you wouldn't notice the difference between SATA II and SATA III.

because you are transferring to a western digital drive, you can use the clone tool that is provided by western digital.
