A GTX 1060 6gb if you want brand new, second hand market you could look for a GTX 980, I know it is a bit over budget but honestly wouldn't be worth spending all you got on any less than these cards otherwise you won't feel a worthy enough upgrade.

Brand new or used?

If new: 1050Ti

If used: 970

I would guess that's a pre-build PC, and again if I would to guess that's an Asus G20 series, and again you'll have not that powerful power supply (is it external?) so 1050Ti would be your best bet in order to be safe with the PSU. If the PSU is better than I think, then go for 970.

Cheers.

@MVPernula I think the 970 has -about- the same performance. If he has a prebuilt, as @r3loAded guessed, he might have problem in terms of power consumption. The 970 isn't a bad card though.

Oh boy I was in the same position as you like a year ago. Ive got a 4790k as well. I ended up getting a free 750 and sold both my 260x and 750 for a 1060 6gb and a new seasonic PSU. I would hold off and save a bit more for atleaste a 1050 to or 1060 if you can. The difference was phenomenal

Try and look for used 980s too
