I'm not a pro at picking routers tips for my own looking plus suggestions would be great! I have this router ASUS Rt-n66r Dual-Band Wireless-n900 Gigabit Router

its pretty old and also I have me and my brother playing computer games a lot on weekends and sometimes weekdays and my lil brother (6 years) always streaming YouTube kids which doesn't have settings to lower the quality so it's always what it was uploaded at and then Netflix being played all the time when my mother and brothers get home (i usually stay home alone after school till about 7 pm and weekends it's always 3-4 things streaming) we don't have a lot of money but am willing to buy one under $200 (usd)

For under 200 bucks you can get a danm good router lol

https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=AC3+Netgear

but you cant go wrong with a nighthawk.   Check their comparison for better.  Depends on you really.  Check the speed of your wifi router.  N isnt the best at the moment,  but if you want faster,  you need to upgrade to AC.  Both with your router and cards.  If your wireless signal plain sucks, consider getting a power line adapter.  They work wonders

I have that router installed at a family member's home. Multiple devices streaming and gaming. Check for wireless interference. Also, what is your rated up/down speed? Here we have 50Mb down and 8 up with not issues while multi-PC gaming and streaming.

if u have that problem with that high bandwidth u should use bandwidth limitations in ur router per ip ( so one user cant draw the whole 150mb, split it up ... example 2users = set 75 or 70mb down for each user and 7 upload )

using the bandwidth limitation per ip eliminates all the lag caused by users pulling the whole net out, it will reduce their speeds but it will give  a fair share of the net around the whole network.... and not lag if one user or 2 decide to stream

21mb down 5mb up is quite good for wifi tbh

its just because users are drawing away all of hes bandwidth he just has to set a limitation per user

Basically he's saying if you have 3 people in the house,  limit the bandwith per user.  soo you get 20 megs,  billy joe gets 20 megs, and meg gets 20 megs,  if someone is doing 4k streaming,  it stops them from doing that while torrenting.

It different for every router, youd have to look into your router settings.

ok and what should I do with limitations

split them over the amoutn of users, u gotta find out their LOCAL ip,s by going on the pc

check their network adapter local ip,s and insert those then set their bandwidth limit

example if u have 60mb download 30mb upload and u have 3 users

u could use 20mb download per user and 10mb upload per user < HOWEVER, if u use all of the bandwidth and everyone would be using all of their bandiwdth at the same time u would run into the same issue

, so instead make it 17-18mb download per user and 7-8mb upload per user :) to eliminate any issues caused by bandwidth

this goes to u aswell @JDE
