Going to build a new PC very very soon. Didn't get too much feedback on my last post so this is why I am making this.

Im debating between two builds, Ryzen and Intel. My initial plan was to wait for coffee lake but now that I think about it all it's going to do is raise the price of my pc in general with new MOBOs and what not. My main focus is gaming and school work, I don't need an all out productivity workstation build but I feel like games will be better optimized for Ryzen in the future. Here are my two builds...

They are very similar price and other parts. Again, im going to be mainly gaming but i'd really like to take this rig with me later on for college and if Ryzen will be a better option I'm 100% down for that. I just need some feedback on what to do, thanks all.

Both are great, ryzen has a edge for multi tasking, streaming at same time of gaming etc..

Intel has a small edge on gaming max and low fps...

It really depends on what you want.. If you game in 60 hertz, I would probably pick the Ryzen

If you game in 144hz, then I would pick the Intel build,

But that's just me and I only game, no stream anything, so yeah.. only my opinion

I dont understand.

He says that in higher resolution, the Ryzen build achieve as good performance as intel and offer more cores for multi tasking.

Also he says that i fyou want to buy an Intel, you should wait for cofee lake, 8700K in 1-2 months :P

Yeah I don't plan on streaming but I just feel like Ryzen will be better for gaming in the future, but I could be wrong. I would be gaming at 144 Hz btw. Im stuck lol

Ahhhhhh okay, one thing I was worried for when it comes to Coffee Lake is if it's going to sell out instantly, how hard its going to be to get, how hard mobos will be to get, and how much it will raise my rig in price.

Don't make your purchasing decision on the basis of "maybe getting better performance in the future" when it should be "getting better performance now".

If you're gaming at 1080p 144Hz, I would be going for Intel in this situation; more specifically, Coffee Lake.

Get the Ryzen one because on a 1080p 144hz monitor, you won't notice any noticeable difference in gaming. I have a Ryzen 1700X and with a gtx 1060, its just awesome on a 1080p 144hz monitor.

Do I really need 8700K for 1080 144hz? I was shifted towards CL but I don't want this process to take a much longer time and for it to increase the price of my rig

In order to reach high framerates for 144Hz gaming, you'd ideally want an Intel CPU.

Probably won't be a drastic change if Intel wants to stay competitive. I'm willing to bet that a i7-8700K + GTX 1080 PC is easily doable within $1900.

For pricing we don't know. All price leaks have come out of countries outside of the US and they often have different prices due to import costs, tariffs, ect. Most people are guessing it'll be about $20-30 more than the 7700k when it came out, with boards around the price of a mid end Z270 ($150). Both ought to come down in the months following its release. This is all rumor and educated guess though
