copy-paste or clone?

xwrench3

i bought a second hard drive a while back, and finally got around to installing it. my plan is to copy my existing hard drives (yes, drives, as in plural), so in the even of failure, i can have an exact copy of the drive that failed. can i just copy / paste, or do i need to clone each drive?i have made one copy of a drive using cloning software, but i have no idea if it will work or not, as the drive i cloned has never failed. so i am a little uncertain about it.

If it's just data you can just copy paste it.

There might be issues trying to do everything at once though.
