i5 7640x???

Go to solution Solved by Sir Asvald,

Ryzen would be a better choice, I don't know what Intel was thinking releasing this product. The worse one. You'd need to spend at least 200+ Euros on a decent board, and you can't even use half of the features. Ryzen would be a better choice

Hey,

does anyone have/know the i5 7640x? saw  a deal where it costs 139€ and I simply ordered one because of the lolz heh. Wondering if Ryzen would be a better choice(?) because it looks like a nice price imo. Will give it to a friend of mine and thought about giving ryzen but now it looks like intel...

Eh oh well then I'll cancel it and get Ryzen anyway! Thanks guys

Yeah, That's a smart move, you won't find all that many LGA 2066 boards for less than €250, most will be €300+ and you can't use half the RAM or half the PCIe slots, it's an absolute joke they even put Kabylake on this platform. Even accounting for binning they don't overclock much better, a few extra pins won't really effect a chip with just 4 cores since almost all the pins are for quad memory and 40 PCIe lanes, LGA 2066 iirc only has like 30% vcore carrying pins, although I'm not sure about that, it's been a month since I looked at the rough block pin out. I can't find it anymore sadly.

Yours faithfully
