Worth looking into TEC/Peltier cooling

Hey guys,

Just curious why TEC/ Peltier cooling is not more prevalent in PCs? I've seen claims that they allow for sub-ambient temperatures, which seems great for enthusiats? What are some drawbacks and why are these coolers not more common?

Sub-ambient means you have to insulate the motherboard so that condensation doesn't kill it. Also, the power draw for the cooling system is quite high, so that adds to your electricity bill, and it can be quite loud.
