Ryzen is better for streaming

He already has a motherboard though...

Can pick up a 6700k/7700k (make sure BIOs is up to do). Would save him $100-$120

Yeah right, good luck getting decent X370 for R7 under 150

Don't buy Apple M1 computers with 8GB of RAM

the 6700k is 323€ while the 7700k is at 348€ in my country. I also have a non oc mobo so i cant OC the cpu's.

Then go 6700 non K and save some $$$.  There is a BIG difference in performance from the i3, but it may let you down some in streaming.

Yea i got crucial ballistix ddr4 2400mhz :) 8GB

alright that should work with ryzen though ryzen prefers faster ram, but you might be able to oc it. get r5 1600 , not x version as there is no significant difference once overclocked & asus prime b350 plus is good board as well . that should able to handle r5 1600 :)

I never had a AMD cpu , how safe is it? , Will ii have problems with the ram frequencies and that? I heard u need atleast a 3200mh ram for ryzen to be good at gaming :)

Safe.  it's true you would pick up a few FPS with faster ram, but as I said before Ryzen>intel 6th gen cpus.

You can still use 2400mhz, it's just that it's recommended to have a clock speed of 3000 because Ryzen performs better at those speeds.

then i'd go with the non K 7700 and spend the rest on another 8gb ram stick.

i would not go and switch to a completely new platform if i have a mainboard for a decent upgrade already just because the other platform may be a bit better at streaming.

you can stream just fine on a 4c/8t CPU if you cut some corners wich is totally acceptable IMO for someone who is not a professional streamer either way.

Ryzen.  Better at streaming, better upgrade path and you can OC.

How much research have you done into streaming? Ryzen can be better, if you don't use Intel Quicksync to stream. Quicksync makes streaming on even an i5-6500 just fine.

But Quicksync is so ugly that even nvenc looks better.

It isn't though? And yes it doesn't look as good but if streaming isn't your career, people will look past the slightly less quality and stay for the streamer
