No OS detected when reinstalling Ubuntu 16.04

Hi. I have a broken Ubuntu 16.04 install running on a z400 workstation. I tried to install nvidia proprietary drivers because I couldn't get my quadro 4000 to display the GUI, it didn't fix the issue, and now I get a login loop. I've tried a lot of different solutions, none worked, and now I'm trying to reinstall the OS while keeping my home folder. The problem is that the installer doesn't detect my previous install. I tried mounting the partition, since it's encrypted, but it's still not detected. I'd like to avoid copying my home folder to another drive, because it's quite heavy. Any ideas ?

Thanks.
