iPhone 7 with a modded in headphone jack

Not sure if this should be in the news section or just the phone section. So here it is for now.

The man behind the Youtube channel, Strang Parts, has just released a video with his journey on attempting and succeeding on modding a headphone jack back into the iPhone 7. The whole start to finish experience I would say it pretty awe inspiring in seeing one person with an idea go through the steps of R&D to a near finished product that works. Even with Apples craze in trying to make phones needless thin for no good reason this guy managed to fit in a headphone mod.

So enjoy those who watch this and end up watching his other stuff like I am now as I type this. :D

That wasn't even the reason they removed it in the 7. The 7 isn't any thinner.

I know, it's just mostly a comment on the size of the phone and the ability to mod in something to such a tiny space.

YouTuber's and engineers thinking outside the box are exactly what the world needs more of. This not only proves that a headphone jack is possible, but is also still something that enough users want in their phones. I'll admit that I've been an Android user for years, but haven't been as open to switching over to iOS as I have been in the past couple years. I love iOS on a tablet, and used to own and love an iPad. Plus, the Sony camera in the iPhone 7 plus is absolute GOLD when it comes to phone cameras.

However, a lack of headphone jack is a dealbreaker for me. This is because I listen to music for around 6-8 hours on average per day, and no current BT devices actually last me through those 8 hours when listening above 30% volume. Now, I don't listen loud enough to damage my ears, but I enjoy hearing the fullrange at around 40-55% volume on most of my BT devices, which only provides around 4-6 hours of battery life before the batteries die. Even if I found BT devices that DO hold 10+ hours of charge for my use case, the inconvenience and overall lifespan of charging the battery just isn't worth it to me. I'm not going to spend $100 - $300 on decent BT headphones only to throw them away because the battery can't be recharged after 2 years of heavy use. Long live wired headphones for me.

imagine how much easier it would be if it were integrated.

just proves that no phone is too small for a headphone jack.
