Alienware ALX Area 51, Now Upgraded

ChrisBower

Managed to quite easily upgrade my Alienware Area 51 ALX System, Love This Case, need an upgrade from a 980x and 12gb ddr3, now a 7700k, 16gb, and a samsung M.2 ssd, big difference.

was worried that all the alien FX colours would not work but work fine.

Omg.. that's sweet.  I'm so interested in upgrading my ALX too to today's current CPU's but didn't know where to start. I'm still on my old 920.

990X is as high as you can go. Whether or not the BIOS supports it though is another thing.

Although the Xeons are much, much better value. You'll usually find that the LGA 775 and LGA 1366 Xeons overclock better too.

Or just gut it completely and upgrade with a new board + CPU but keep the case.

Our Father Birb has taught us with His humble heart and gentle wing the way of the bob. Let us show Him our reverence and follow in His example. The Xeons are good value because they can be overclocked. An X5650 at 2.66Ghz will not be a fun gaming experience, and who knows how well these boards OC.

You can game really good on the xeon x5650 battlefield 1 around 78-80fps is not that bad can throw many games at it.
