unRaid gamer VM, bad GPU preformence

My unRaid server with Gamer VM stopped working right.
in games my FPS got cut by 50% or more from one day to the next.

How do I get the full power of my GPU?

I tryed:

  • Reinstalling GPU driver (4 versions)
  • Rebooting server
  • New VM with same spec

RIG

  • CPU: 2x Xeon E5-2670v3 (AiO water cooled)
  • GPU: Msi GTX 1080 Sea Hawk X (AiO water cooled)
  • M.2: OS Drive Samsung 950 Pro 256gb
  • Data SSD: Samsung 750 1tb
  • RAM: 4x8gb ddr4 2166mhz
  • Motherboard: ASUS Z10PE-D16 WS
  • unRaid drives: 5x5tb WD Red Pro (2 is for Parity)

you paired a 2.3GHz processor to a 1080 and you are asking why performance is 50%. This must surely be the reason.

Hey, he wrote, "in games my FPS got cut by 50% or more from one day to the next", which includes the statement, it worked fine.

I agree with you that most or commonly many games dont do oder cant use more than 4 cores, but i dont think the 2,3GHz is that big of a deal.

@iHoller can you give us more data?

 - What games

 - Before fps

 - After fps

 - Did you do like a host system upgrade?

 - What System is inside the VM installed

 - Please go ham, if you want us to help you, based on facts, which we need from you ;)

i did consider the logic of the OP, but the freq of the cpu & the total cores does make this cpu unfit for this GPU. you can go back in some time (about 10 years) and say 2.3G is too low for 2017 and that is not counting architecture improvements or increases in cache.

You are right, its not the right cpu for the gpu, to get maximum performance, but as always in life, im sure its not that simple.

Anyway the creator asked something different, so lets stay on topic here.

in Diablo 3, at first I had 150fps, now with the same settings I have 35-45.

You read my post about more details right?

You need to give us more. This info doesn't do much.
