in my build I plan on putting in an ROG STRIX 1080, but the PCI-e cords that came with my PSU are ugly. I was planing on just using one of my friends PCI-e cords but we realized that the way the pins were shaped made it so it could not fit in my PSU. I think that the PCI-e cord was from his EVGA PSU. I wanted to know if i ordered a PCI-e cord from cable mods, would I be able to make it so that it fits my PSU?

This would be VERY tedious because I've done it to my own PSU but you could sleeve the power supply cables yourself with any array of colors. You would need 1/16th inch sleeving and a pin remover.

 

...and a lot of time, patience, and the ability to deal with rubbing the flesh off your fingers to the point where it's a dull pain to touch anything...don't sleeve your entire PSU to avoid the 3rd condition. Also to avoid RTS in your hands/wrists.

Don't try to use cables from different PSUs! You can either buy extension cables, sleeve them yourself or find someone who sells modded cabling, BUT you need to make sure it matches your PSU.

Yeah.  If you don't want to fry your video card, don't use PCIe cables from a different brand PSU.

 

Like others have said:  Buy extensions.
