I was getting 125 MB/s speeds (1000Mb) on my NAS to desktop. I moved it now I only get 11 MB/s (100 Mb/s).

I suspicion It may be the ethernet cable. It's about 50ft long and run through ceiling tiles and a floor.

How do you properly test the cable? (I dont want to run another unless I have to).

You moved it? Are all the connections still intact? Have you tried unplugging and plugging it back in? Is there an intermediary device such as a switch in between?

Is it a particularly old cable? You can rule out cable fault if you can try a different cable or if you can plug a different computer into the existing cable and see if it's Gigabit or not.

Also, check the network adapter configuration. Does it say 1000 or 100? If there's a power cable running along side the Ethernet cable the magnetic field can corrupt the signals in the wires and cause mass packet loss. Because it uses the TCP protocol your file(s) will still transfer successfully but at the cost of drastically reduced speed.
