yeah i think i want to use open broadcaster but does it record 1080p or 720?

If you have an Nvidia kepler GPU, use shadowplay. (Beware, it's free but only records DX11 games)

You could get Dxtory aswell, it's about $30 bucks.

It records whatever you tell it to. The limit is your monitor's resolution.

if you have a 600 series and up nvidia GPU you can use shadowplay, it's free!
