Hey Guys

This is my first Topic here.

Rig:

I7 5820k

Msi x99a sli plus

16 GB ddr4 Cruical

Evga GTX 1080ti SC

Inter-Tech CPM 750W modular Netzteil (750 Watt, 8x SATA, 140mm Lüfter) https://www.amazon.de/dp/B005EKZ54M/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_PS.Ozb7J1W9FB

Whole system is custom watercooled.

Since i built my pc I had a strange issue.

When i overclocked my CPU to an BCLK strip of 100/167Mhz, multiplier of 40/43/45 and set the voltage to 1,25V/1,3V, the Pc shut down immediately or when while benchmarking/gaming.

In this scenario the Graphics card was at szock speed.

Or I had this issue:

CPU at stock speed, graphics card at 120% power target, +50 Mhz chip clock -> 2Ghz .

Sometimes the game crashed and the vga driver reseted. Okay so the clock of the gpu was overkill. But sometimes, like  in 3D mark firestrikre ultra, the whole system shut down after the first graphics test loaded. (The test didn't started)

Soo.. could it be because the cpu/gpu needed more power (1,3volt cpu/ 120% powertarget gpu) and the cheap powersupply couldn't managed that? On amazon the supply has slmetimes bad reviews.

Thanks for help

But others, even Linus overclocked the same cpu to over 4Ghz

Myabe your PSU doen't give enought to power it, and maybe you have horrible cooling.

Your PSU looks dodgy, never seen that brand before and it isn't 80plus certified and only supports 230V, (which doesn't mean it is bad, but kinda hints that it is probably old or not very good).

Also, your CPU is not tested for frequencies above the stock speed, so you are not guaranteed for a frequency above stock speed.

Be glad that your PC still lives with that Gargabe PSU.

Why the hell are you using an Intel HEDT with such a Piece of Shit PSU?

And spare no expanse for watercooling - instead of buying a trustworthy PSU for the rig!!

Hell, for that money, you (almost) could have gotten a 500W Pure Power 10 - not the best unit but way way better than the shit you have right now...

and if you read this:
DO NOT USE THE PC WITH THIS POWER SUPPLY ANYOMORE! WAIT UNTILL THE NEW ONE ARRIVES!

And for the Americans:

Intertech is one of the worst PSU Manufacturers we have here in Germany/the DACH Region...

They are overrated and quality wise they are just bad...

So he probably paid 60 bucks for a modular 300W power Supply...

That PSU looks like a hazard to me. I'd get a new PSU like a Corsair RMx or EVGA G2 first before overclocking.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

They're certainly better than what you have but you could potentially do better. Can you link us stores where you can buy PSUs from?

For that Rig: 550W be quiet Dark Power Pro P11.

Everything else is not worth it, especially budget RGB units like the Thermaltake.

Yeah, that's plenty even with OC.

https://www.amazon.de/Corsair-CP-9020090-EU-RM550X-Modular-Netzteil/dp/B015Q7F36M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1503969297&sr=8-1&keywords=corsair+rmx

That look good to you? If so then go for it.

Well i would buy it on amazon

Why??
You have other options...

https://geizhals.de/be-quiet-dark-power-pro-11-550w-atx-2-4-bn250-a1318886.html?t=alle&plz=&va=b&vl=de&hloc=at&v=e&togglecountry=set#filterform

No need to support the aspiring world wide monopolist...

Yes, more than enough...

And OC isn't alwayw worth it, you have to get something like Brennstuhl 231E or Conrad Energy Check 4000 to check if it really is worth it.

You definately increase the power consumption of a component by 50% - while performance only increases around 5-10% if you're lucky.

Especially with costs for power in our countrys, it's worth thinking about and not mindlesly increase voltage.

And after you used THAT PSU you should aquire much more information abouth overclocking. Without it, you can easily destroy your rig in a couple of weeks/Months...
