Getting a GPU

Over the last few months I have been getting more and more into gaming. Because of that I think it is about time I get a GPU so that I can get off of these crappy i7-6700k integrated graphics.

 

Budget is around $400 CAD. I will be playing on a 60Hz 2560 x 1080 monitor. Going to be playing games like Rocket League, Blackwake, maybe some Minecraft. Just looking for something that I can play at good settings 60 FPS and possibly record as well.

 

So should I buy now or wait?

Vega 56 or GTX 1070, both should do the job perfectly

With the mining craze I would look for a high end last gen card like a GTX 970 or 980 maybe. I'm sure someone paying more attention to the market will pipe up soon.

A little overkill I think for 2560x1080 @60Hz 

 

I would recommend an RX 580 if you could buy one.......

I don't think it's overkill. I use a 1070 for 1080p and I don't get any insane framerates like 200FPS on triple A's.

You two are forgetting the $400 CAD budget. A GTX 1070 in Canada costs like $550.

Used 970s go for about 250 to 300 up here. Should be plenty floating on Kijiji.

Ah shoot. Well you could try eBay. I've seen 970s on there for around $250 sometimes. They are rare though and the 980s are usually way overpriced.
