need help

Anyone know how to reset windows 7 so that all the programs are erased. meaning starting from scratch again. Need a fresh start on my PC. Also, i do not have the windows 7 disc.

Fresh install, (you'll find win 7 or 10)

AFAIK only Windows 10 has the "Reset to default" option. The ones coming with windows xp, 7, 8, 8.1 are form the manufacturers recovery drive. That is usually only available on prebuild systems and not on selfbuild ones.

 

So if your system doesn't give you the option, you need to install from scratch.

jup, no "reset" option from within windows 7, gotta create your own instal media and do it yourself.

 

be sure to back up your stuff and download important drivers to a usb stick BEFORE you enter setup

 

driver hunting may not be required if you are using the manufacturers recovery to restore a prebuilt system.

 

but you should not use manufacturers restore shit because ... well ... while you CAN use this to start fresh, you will also get your windows back fresh with all the bloatware and all the trialware crap that this prebuilt originaly came with.

You can IIRC use USB drive to choose install options, so instead of choosing install/re-install windows, you choose repair, and then there should be options to reset to default I believe... I haven't used win 7 in quite a while now, so if I gave wrong info there please excuse me, I am trying to remember, but may have mis-remembered. Hope it was right anyway, will save from having to actually re-install, should be a bit quicker if correct.
