Hello!

I am going to swap out my 2500K for my new 3770K tomorrow.

My I5 is OC to 4.2GHz , and I'm planning to enable hyperthreading on the I7.

Is there anything that needs to be done in the bios before changing the cpu?

Also, the hyperthreading can be enabled in the bios settings right?

Just FYI I'm using the Sabertooth P67.

Thanks!

Hyperthreading will be enabled by default. Make sure your BIOS are updated and you should be all set. Just out of pure curiosity, why are you upgrading your CPU?
I host two servers 24/7 and do lots of gaming, recording, and editing.

The servers really lag me out at times, so Im hoping hyperthreading can help lower my cpu usage.

No I don't have a different computer.

Only my gaming desktop is powerful enough to run the servers.

The hyperthreading really helps now. All threads are being used, so I suppose it is taking advantage of all 8 threads. = ]

If you want to do editing/gaming etc while you host the servers, then consider using 4 threads for them and leave the rest for other work unless it makes the server lag ;)

MacBook Pro 15' 2018 (Pretty much the only system I use)
