Why are there so many choices

LegendOfZirkle

Alright I'm looking at getting a new keyboard because I'm getting board of the membrane I have now. But when looking every keyboard has the different cherry mx keys and i have no clue what the difference is. I want to know what that is and some other peoples recommendations as I look for a keyboard I don't want anything above 170 because I just feel like thats way too much for a keyboard but I don't even know anymore RGB is too expensive this is the one i was looking at I'm a defeated man https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16823114073

Do you want medium-loud, loud, audible but not loud, or silent.

Do you want a small actuation point (basically do you press all the way down or just halfway on a keyboard)

Do you want linear or clicky.

I kinda like the click of the mechanical keys and I want one for fast keypresses I don't really care how loud they are though I havent used enough mechanical keyboards to know what actuation point i need

Reds: Smooth, quiet, good for gaming but not for typing

Speeds: Reds but with a higher actuation point, so they actuate higher

Blues: Clicky, loud, tactile, great for typing and gaming if you don't mind the noise

Browns (my favorite): Quiet, tactile, the best switches for everything IMO

Greens: Heavier Blues

Silents: Quiet Blues, so they're still tactile just not clickly

There are others but those are the ones you are most likely to find.

Alright my friend recommended me the Ducky shine 6 but everything is so much money I kinda wanted like a few macros but each one adds like 10 dollars each so i don't think that an option also found this because its like 20 dollars cheaper than most https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16823114062

What's your EXACT budget? Ducky boards are amazing, but Razer has a pretty shit reputation on this forum, so I'd avoid it, especially for that price.

Maybe this, though it doesn't have RGB https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Mechanical-Keyboard-High-Speed-920-006519/dp/B00QI2WPJ8

Or this, which then lacks the clicky of a blue switch, more similar to a brown switch https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Orion-Mechanical-Gaming-Keyboard/dp/B00N3OELPU

CPU: AMD Sempron 2400+ / MOBO: Abit NF7-S2G / GPU: WinFast A180BT 64MB / RAM: Mushkin DDR333 256MBx2 / HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 120GB

In that case, get a Corsair K95, either the original or the Platinum depending on how many macros and what switch type you need/want.
