i believe black bars, and it should be the monitor that handles that, if a program only runs at 16:9

Hello,

I've recently built my first rig and have realised that my 720p Samsung TV just isn't cutting it. I'm running a G4560 & 1050ti so I understand that 1080p gaming will be my limit.

With this in mind, I'd love some recommendations on 1080p monitors around £150. I'm a casual gamer + photo editor so I don't think that anything over 60hz refresh rate is needed, but I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks for the help!

Maybe this? https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/Dqqbt6/asus-monitor-vx239h

It has an IPS panel, which from what I understand will benefit you with photo editing

Great to know. I'll be sticking to that route.

Never thought an ultra-wide could be in my price range, this is a great suggestion!

Do you know if there is a difference between going HDMI vs DVI?

none really except for sound and hdcp, some games dont play nice with ultra wide, overwatch comes to mind. but they are awesome when all is working well.

not sure it will cause crashes unless you are doing something to force the game past 16:9 but blizzard has said they dont want people having an advantage over other players so they will not support ultra wide.
