Ddos?

Ckaayy

Hello, i was playing a game of LoL when all of a sudden i had massive lag spikes. This have never happend before, and made the game unplayable. I've been pinging 8.8.8.8 for the last hour and it looks like i have 40% packets loss. I'm not sure if i'm getting ddosed or whats happening, but im sure some of you bright people might have some ideas to try out. (Checked with my ISP about being a problem on their end, and its not)

Have you severely pissed one of your opponents off? Were your teammates having lag spikes as well?

The haters are dabbing back...

On a serious note, when do you play LoL? It might be a network peak, also try ethernet and see if that eliminates the problem

Try pinging your gateway. When there's spikes in packet loss on the ping to google, see if there's matching packet loss to the gateway. Might be the router is overheating. If that's the case, unplug it an let it sit for a couple of minutes. Also, make sure you're not tucking it away in a cabinet where it can't breath. Although it's lower power, it's still a computer which generates heat and needs to be cooled.

@kerradeph Ping statistics for 192.168.1.1:
    Packets: Sent = 56, Received = 56, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 0ms, Maximum = 1ms, Average = 0ms

The router is out in the open with plenty of space. Its not hotter than it should be

I would suggest you contact your ISP again and have them check other people on the node you're on then. Might be an issue with hardware upstream from you that isn't setting off alarms yet. Or there might be someone overloading the node which unfortunately most ISPs can't really do anything about.

If you can get a console on that, try turning off data, connect to the wireless, and run the same pings to see how the packet loss is.

Okay. so that pretty much rules out anything in your network. So I would say get in contact with your ISP. Let them know what you've tested.
