Best solution to properly use BeyerDynamic DT 770 Pro 80Ohms + modmic 5

MGsubbie

I bought some studio quality headphones, and as far as I know onboard audio and front panel connectors don't let me take proper advantage of its quality. My voice recordings also have some buzzing on the background.

Would you recommend a USB powered sound card or something similar?

Currently running an Asus Sabertooth Z77, will probably upgrade to a Z370 board + 8700k in the coming months.

I love Motu stuff

but might be a bit overkill on the I/Os for what you are looking for

I've heard that onboard audio has come a long way. Atleast with most Flagship mobos onboard solutions.. 80Ohms might be pushing it but from what I've seen it isn't necessarily out of the question? (If anyone knows otherwise, feel free to correct me). Of course I'm talking about the most recent flagship motherboards (z170, z270, x370 and x99) as they're the only ones I've worked with other than the 990FX line of mobos. Definitely look up your current mobos codec if it has an amp. My bet is if it has an amp in it it's probably fine without an extra USB.

The 880s don't need a amp, Beyer's normally don't need one. And 80ohm should be ok for soundcards, if not: Soundblaster E5 it fiio Q1 are good soundcards. The fiio without mic input
