Ok, so I want to drive 2 displays off of my old laptop that i just repaired, but the placement of the VGA port is too close to the HDMI port, therefore the HDMI port is blocked by the VGA cable when it's plugged in. I think this could be fixed by a different VGA cable or a USB 3.0 to HDMI dongle. I would do gaming and video editing if that makes a difference. I prefer amazon or bestbuy

I doubt the first option would work. Most laptops that have the VGA and HDMI next to each other do so specifically so that the two cables cannot be used at the same time, because the laptop cannot support both a VGA and an HDMI signal at the same time (or it runs like shit).

The second option probably will work, but the HDMI dongle might not provide smooth video playback, or it'll be limited to 1080p.

That speaks for performance when performance is needed. Otherwise it'll default to Intel HD to save power.

Two with a smidge of lag on the HDMI, or VGA (which ever you get the USB adapter for). But for something like YouTube, a smidge of lag on the third monitor won't be noticeable (hopefully) or a big deal.
