CPU Fan Speed Error

Hi, I need help!

 

When I start my PC the fans go extra loud and a post error: ”CPU fan speed error! Make sure the COU fan cable is connected to the CPU fan header”. Yes it is.

 

In the BIOS fan profile it doesn’t show up. ”N/A”. The CPU temperature shoots up to 80-90 degrees C so I can’t keep the PC on for long. Inside the computer I have a Corsair H100i v2 AIO watercooler. The fans on the radiator are spinning and if I touch the tubes I feel vibrations so the pump seems fine.

 

I tried clearing the CMOS using a screwdriver. Didn’t help. Now I don’t know what to do..

 

Help please!

Fan connector plugged in the wrong way?

 

From what I can see on the BIOS screen, the core voltage is also way to high.

CPU: i7-2600K 4751MHz 1.44V (software) --> 1.47V at the back of the socket Motherboard: Asrock Z77 Extreme4 (BCLK: 103.3MHz) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 RAM: Adata XPG 2x8GB DDR3 (XMP: 2133MHz 10-11-11-30 CR2, custom: 2203MHz 10-11-10-26 CR1 tRFC:230 tREFI:14000) GPU: Asus GTX 1070 Dual (Super Jetstream vbios, +70(2025-2088MHz)/+400(8.8Gbps)) SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 256GB (main boot drive), Transcend SSD370 128GB PSU: Seasonic X-660 80+ Gold Case: Antec P110 Silent, 5 intakes 1 exhaust Monitor: AOC G2460PF 1080p 144Hz (150Hz max w/ DP, 121Hz max w/ HDMI) TN panel Keyboard: Logitech G610 Orion (Cherry MX Blue) with SteelSeries Apex M260 keycaps Mouse: BenQ Zowie FK1

In the CPU fan header? No, its seated correctly.

 

I should say the computer has worked fine for months before this suddenly happened.

Does the board have other fan headers to test with?

Yes, one next to the CPU_FAN called CPU_OPT as well as one below the CPU and I also tried a fan hub that’s on the back of the case. Same results.

sounds like a dead pump then since its not putting out any RPMs.

Wouldn’t the BIOS atleast register the fans in this case tho?

No. The fans are separate. Since your header is reading 0 and temps are sky rocketing right away no matter what header you plug into, either the splitter is bad or your pump is dead.. my money is on pump.

It's highly unlikely for all these headers to die at the same time, so I think the problem is on your cooler. Do you have case fans that support PWM?

Alright, thanks. I have a leftover heatsink I will try to replace it with, and see if it solves itself.
