I just built my new system and I was wondering, is coffee lake going to be compatible with lga1151 boards? What do you guys think?

i havent caught up that much but it is maybe, I think not unless intel is really desparate. Intel would definately want to make a new socket and chipset to take our money

they havn't announced anything yet, there are "leaks" on both sides of the coin on this one, intel is holding a media event later this month http://www.techradar.com/news/well-see-intels-8th-generation-coffee-lake-processors-on-august-21

Yes, different chip set. They may not be electronically compatible, nothing can be done if so (Intel may update microcode anyway).

lol. Intel wouldn't miss out on a cash grab like a new chipset or socket except for refreshes like Haswell Refresh and small Tick-Tock-Tock type stuff. Or they are really worried about Ryzen.
