A Bad CPU?

I have a 4790k that has been overclocked to 4.5ghz at one point at 1.35v. Ran it that way for quite some time.

I have used 3 motherboards with this cpu. The first one is a Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H that I have replaced since I thought it was the issue. It had like 20 mashed pings, not sure how it even worked... Guessing it is from transporting it. I messed up the pins worse trying to fix them. I bought a Asrock Z97 Extreme 6 off newegg to have that be sorta doa. Most of the usb ports didn't work, but my cpu issue still seemed to exist. Recently I bought a Gigabyte Z87X-UD7 TH which works but I am back to were I started.

So now onto the issue. When I power on my computer the computer fails to boot out right. No debug codes on the board. Everything powers but nothing happens. If I power cycle my computer about 10-30 times it will decided to randomly work. After running for my computer for a couple days to a week my computer will just freeze. This isn't the fault of xorg or anything else as everything on the system just stops. Can't ssh in for example. The computer is still running the displays still output. Just frozen. The issue first started about a year ago were it would just randomly not boot but a quick power cycle would fix it. As time has gone on it has gotten worse to the point it is now.

I am rather sort on money and not having a reliable system is rather frustrating. Kinda stuck on what to do as this current mobo doesn't seem to work for great passthrough either.

Just a stupid question. You mean all 3 MOBO has this same issue? If yes, might it be the PSU issue? Not sure of it thou.

Maybe that as well. But for me, whenever I met with a RAM issue, there are always beeping. But I do read somewhere that not always RAM issue will have beeping.

Unless all 4 sticks are bad. I have tried one of each and it has experienced the issue yet.

So PSU is my best bet. Does it work with a different one?

If it is possible, borrow a PSU to try if you still have this issue.

Yes all 3 mobos. I guess I did buy the psu in march of 16. Several months before the issue. I do have 2 psu's laying around I could give a try.

Just give it a try then. At least you will know if that is the issue or not.

if the issue still persists with a new psu try just 1 ram stick

Tried completely different ram out of my pfsense router. Issue still occurs in every slot. I have tried in the past with my other 4 ram sticks with the same conclusion on the my original board.

Hard drives then? Chances of a CPU dying are so slim...

I have tested that too to have the issue persist... I think it is the cpu... I mean what is left?

I have same guess as if hard drive is failing. cpu dying chances are very slim & you have got new mobo already & checked out the ram, psu as well. I will suggest to try use a different storage if you can with fresh windows & maybe underclock the Cpu a bit to lower & doing some stability test for cpu?
