I've been getting some weird artifacts while gaming lately and this is the first time I've ever experienced anything like it before. Sometimes I will just see random lines flash on screen and vanish. Other times the monitor shuts off completely for no reason at all the screen just goes black and the monitor goes to standby mode. I was wondering if this is a symptom of  my graphics card failing or of my monitor being a punk.

System Spec:

FX-8310 @3.40GHz

R9 280x @1072MHz

16gb RAM

ASUS VC239

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

"Here is some advice that might have gotten lost somewhere along the way in your life.

#1. Treat others as you would like to be treated.

#2. It's best to keep your mouth shut; and appear to be stupid, rather than open it and remove all doubt.

#3. There is nothing "wrong" with being wrong. Learning from a mistake can be more valuable than not making one in the first place.
