Looking for a new laptop, 6th gen vs 7th gen

Hi wondering if I can get some help.

Looking at a msi gs63vr 6rf with 4k 15" screen, 16gb ram, 128gb ssd  and 2tb hdd with GTX 1060 6gb  or the newer model the 7rf with 1080p screen and 256 gb ssd and the rest the same.

6rf is £1400 and the 7rf is £1700.

Want to invest in one to last at least the next 3 years. Anyone got experience with the gs63 model or recommend any others?

The price difference seems kind of silly, being that the better one has a worse screen (but better ssd, I guess). 300 is not worth 128gb extra ssd storage, especially given the screen tradeoff

Sacrificing 4k display, 256GB storage really not enough, slighly faster CPU (6700HQ vs 7700HQ, you probably forgot to mention that)

$300 more? Not worth.

Yeah forgot to mention the cpu difference. Hard too know sometimes if your getting a bargain. I know 4k gaming isn't an option really with the 1060. But videos yes thatl do for Netflix and prime. Same as everyone just looking to see if you've got got a bargain or not. Ordered and all, now it's just the waiting game.

KabyLake will only get you 6-8% over SkyLake on average and really isn't worth the premium. Although you might want to wait until after the 21st to buy something because that is when Intel is announcing CoffeeLake and 7XXX chips might start dropping in price.

The Potato Box:

AMD 5950X

EVGA K|NGP|N 3090

128GB 3600 CL16 RAM

The Scrapyard Warrior:

AMD 3950x

EVGA FTW3 2080Ti

64GB 3200 CL16 RAM
