confusing hardare usage

I have recently experienced unusually low hardware usage in games despite being on low frame rates e.g. in minecraft my frame rates are ~35fps with the unlimited frame rate setting, while my hardware usage is ~30% for both cpu and gpu (btw I have checked that my RAM usage and/or speed are not a limiting factor) the reason for this has alluded me and I would appreciate any help in discovering and fixing it.

ps I have checked this with  and without optifine (a mine craft optimization program)

Huh, even then you should be getting better performance.  Maybe your psu has degraded to the point you can no longer fully power the everything?

maybe allocate more RAM to minecraft, and turn on multicore rendering in settings if it's not on already.

multicore rendering is something called VBOs in minecraft settings. might already be on.

 

when you launch the game, there should be an advanced settings option in the launcher, where you can allocate more RAM. 2 or 3 GB should be enough.

I checked and I already had VBO's on and I have 5Gbs of RAm allocated to minecraft, but thanks for your help anyway
