I am not sure and want to make sure, to hook up your monitor and PC. You plug a port from your monitor to a port on the GPU, right? Or do you plug it in the onboard thing. I have MSI gtx 660 and the monitor has either VGA or DVI. What cable should I buy?

You plug it into the GPU... not onboard.. Buy a DVI cable.

it's not old got it black friday, I read it online the standard monitor comes with both cables, but the r only VGA

Unless its a really cheap monitor it should come with VGA and DVI cables.

Of course. The other port is for a second monitor, which you don't have.

dual link is only needed for 120hz or monitors with resolution greater than 1200p.
