So I installed a cooler master 212 led turbo on my asus z170i pro gaming motherboard, replugged all the cables and the pc boots but nothing shows up on my monitor, also all usb devices only get power for a split second and then shut off , where do I even start? this is such a  nightmare

Clear CMOS, try running on the iGPU (remove the GPU), try a single stick of RAM in each slot individually. If you have the option, try a different PSU.

Did you apply thermal paste before mounting the cooler?

Did you remove the protective plastic sticker from the bottom of the cooler before mounting?

Is this a new build or did you just install a new cooler on a working PC?

Yeah, quote us next time.

Did you apply thermal paste? Did you remove the sticker? Basically all the questions @Jonathan Lemmens asked?

Sounds like either a ram issue or you don't have the cpu fan to the cpu fan header but rather a system fan header. The pc will turn itself off if it doesn't have a fan connected to the cpu fan header.

I changed my cpu cooler and I also added another ram stick, while keeping the ssd the same as it was.

Ah, the RAM is more likely the issue. Did you get the exact same stick of RAM as you already had? same speed and timings?

As I said earlier, try running on one stick of RAM first, if this works, try the other stick by itself as well. If both work fine individually, then they probably wont play well together.

Even if he got the exact same model, no RAM is the same. It might have still not worked.

Same Model, but a thing I noticed is that the chipset color (greenish, not black) is a bit different, so maybe theyre not exactly exactly the same thing

heres what I mean, same manufacturer, same model, same speed but a different looking chip inside, check the colors.

I think you mean the PCB (Printed Circuit Board)? this is not really an issue.

What's most important is that the speed in Mhz is the same and the timings are identical. This is a string of numbers like this "9-10-9-28" sometimes with a C or CL prefix.

I'll ask a third time: did you test each stick of RAM by itself? Even if these sticks could work together the new one could still be DOA.

Also, in this picture it looks like the right stick of ram sits slightly higher than the left stick. Maybe it's just not inserted properly.

I will double check these tommorow, thanks for the help

All good, the ram stick under the cpu cooler wasnt installed all the way in, everything is working beautifully and I ve also added a gtx 1050ti :)
