Hi! So I am interested in getting the Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 motherboard during the Black Friday sale.

However, I notice on every other website besides newegg, the picture of the motherboard is different. For Example. Just Look at the first picture of this motherboard on newegg, like the heatsinks and Ram slots:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128514

Now, look at this picture from Microcenter, which is the same picture that appears on Amazon, and other PC component retailers:

http://www.microcenter.com/product/366425/GA-990FXA-UD3_Socket_AM3_990FX_ATX_AMD_Motherboard

The Newegg version looks MUCH better in my opinion, even though the difference is minimal, it's sort of an OCD thing for me.

Now, my question is, why is there a difference between these motherboards on different sites? The motherboards are the same model, but look different. Also, if I were to order it from Micro Center, would I get the version from Newegg, because my thinking is that they simply haven't updated the picture to a newer model yet. Thanks!

There is zero difference. The reason the images look different is because of the exposure and lighting. They are the exact same.

Any one notice the change in Heatsink designs? I think that's the only difference

Then why does one motherboard have a gigabyte logo on the middle heatsink and the other one doesn't?

No, there is definitely a difference. Different colors of Ram Slots, one has a Gigabyte Logo on the Heatsink, the other has a different heatsink design with a heatpipe.

It's revision 4.0, they changed the heatsinks for it.

That's great. Thanks! So I am planning on getting an FX-6300 with it, so am I better off getting Rev 4, or would a Rev3 still be compatible? Because I am looking at a very good deal on a Rev 3, I just don't want to be too hasty with a purchase.

yes, the ver 4.0 is better than capable over the earlier versions. so later if you

upgrade to more cores, the handling is even better over the prior versions.

They are both compatible of course, Rev. 4 just makes some improvements to issues with the previous revision, notably the power delivery.  Better for overclocking.  It's possible that Microcenter might have Rev. 4 and just didn't change the picture, it's probably worth asking them.
