Can i boil my tap water and drink it?

That may work, though the resin they use to hold it together would worry me. but it would be super cool. And you'd have to worry about your utensils blowing away on a backpacking trip...

very true. I am sure we will have a food grade resin someday. Until then stainless steel is our friend

It it does depend on where you live of course. Some third world country probably doesn't have very good tap water regulation or safety. 

I get my water from the mountains. Nestle just keeps stealing it. At home, it's mostly tap water to fill up my barrels.

But  you're right, most bottled water is crap.
