Need help with picking a power supply

AndrewJS

Hello all,

I am pretty new to desktop building and don't understand much about upgrading them.  I recently purchased a pre-built gaming pc from amazon with the specs listed below.  After some research, I'm afraid that this computer has a bad power supply(one that is 600W).  I think I should upgrade the power supply to be safe, but I am not sure what my system will require or what brand I should go with.  Can anyone give me some tips/recommendations?

PC Specs:

CyberPowerPC Gamer Liquid Cool GLC4200A Desktop Gaming PC

Processor: 4.2 GHz Intel Core i7 - 7700K

Ram: 16 GB DDR4

Hard Drive: 2048 GB 7200 RPM SATA III

GPU: GTX 1060

2 TB 7200RPM HDD

120GB SSD

450w will be fine. But I would get 550w or 650w if you plan to upgrade your graphics card

Corsair CX550m, EVGA 550 B3 are good and cheap

Seasonic S12ii, Seasonic M12ii are also good

On the higher end we have Corsair RMi/RMx, EVGA G2/G3 550w

What makes you worried about the power supply that was included with your PC? Could you peek in your case to check out which brand and model it is?

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.

I'm not sure what the actual PSU is for this system, it is not listed in the system specs.  I also don't have the system yet, its still being shipped.  I'm just afraid to run it when it comes in if it does end up having a bad PSU

600 Watts - XtremeGear Power Supply i think this is the power supply that company uses

If this is the power supply, is it bad? For around 60 - 80 bucks, it sounds like it would be better to buy a trustworthy power supply

i was reading some posts about them failing so you could swap it out or just hope if it does fail it doesn't break anything and swap it then if you have the money to spend swapping for a better brand at the same or lower wattage may be a good idea

Seasonic m12II evo or s12II evo kf you dont need modularity. This psu is very wuiet, the cables are all black, you dont really need high efficency So 80 plus bronze is fine.
