Laptop for software engineering uni course

Hello !

In september I am beginning a university Software Engineering course and I need to buy a new laptop. Will there be situation where I might need of benefit from say having a more powerful GPU or a quad core processor? Also , any specific laptops that you will recommend?

Thanks in advance!

they're students, a 940mx can handle engineering course just fine.

lattitudes too. Clevo and gigabyte have good laptops too. Theres so many to choose from.

More powerful GPU - running CAD, rendering and doing GPU related programming (check if your course offers GPU programming like openCL or CUDA). OpenGL courses in universities can be done using IGPs. You'll be better off with a quad core CPU like an i7 so focus on that as one of the main specs you need.
