Is this mid-cost PC build okay? (around 1000+usd)

Intel Core i7-7700K Kaby Lake Quad-Core 4.2 GHz

Gigabyte GA-B250-HD3

G.SKILL Ripjaws4 DDR4 2400MHz 16GB (2x8GB)

Sapphire RX 560 Pulse OC 4gb

Intel 540s Series M.2 2280 240GB SATA III TLC Internal Solid State Drive

Seagate Desktop HDD ST1000DM003 1TB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s

Deepcool Ice Blade Pro V2 Aircooler

Corsair VS550 550 Watt Power Supply

it's for 3D Rendering, Video editing and Gaming (AC syndicate, Shadow of mordor, skyrim etc)

my friend says that the processor is too big for gaming, "this will be a bottleneck". But he doesn't know if that also goes for rendering

i want it to be more affordable with multiple uses

please help

Please don't match the i7-7700K with a 560. At least get a 1060 6GB but 1070 and up is recommended. Also, if you want to render and do video editing go for the R5 1600 as it's ~$120 cheaper and has 6 cores and 12 threads.

Edit: The i7-7700K is the perfect gaming CPU with the i5-7600K right behind it.

Edit 2: The B250 chipset cannot overclock so it would be wise to get a Z270 motherboard.

It's a case of too little GPU, too much CPU.

-The i7-7700K cannot overclock on a B250 motherboard, you need a Z270 motherboard. But if you're rendering, buy a R5 1600 with a B350 motherboard instead of the i7-7700K. Overclock it with the included stock cooler.

-With the money saved from the cost of the processor and cooler, buy a better GPU. A RX 470/570/480/580 or GTX 1060 6GB would be ideal.

-Buy the Crucial MX300 275GB for less instead. The Intel 540s are meh.

-The Corsair VS450 is a rather terrible choice. Buy a Seasonic S12II 520 instead.

'Fanboyism is stupid' - someone on this forum.

Be nice to each other boys and girls. And don't cheap out on a power supply.

Whats the renderer that you are using ? Almost all modern renderers that are worth their money use gpu instead of cpu.
Also 16 Gb Ram are really not enough if you want to do serious content creation, and i'd strongly recommend that you go for at least 24gb of ram. Take that from someone who works as a technical artist in the 3D and Gaming Industry.
Now if you look at gaming, the role of the cpu becomes even less important and you could just as well get an old sandy bridge i7 2500 from 8 years ago, overclock it and have almost no tangible performance difference compared to a 7700k. And with an RX 560 you could just as well go for a pentium g series and your fps wouldnt change much, because your absolutely gpu bound.

So bottomline: Get a solid Graphics Card first ! Like an 1060 or 1070, then check that you have enough ram in your build and then buy a processor with the best bang for the buck in regards to content creation (Which most likely will be a ryzen processor with the highest core count you can afford). Games are almost always gpu bound, so spending a lot of money on cpu only makes sense if you already got an 1080ti in your build and want to get the most performance out of this graphic card. And even then it only takes a relatively small amount of time for new games to get released, and your gpu bound again.
Also dont be a fanboy ! Always go for best bang for the buck, because thats all that counts.

No? Higher resolutions require more GPU power than CPU, so if the ryzen can handle 1080p (Which it can) without bottlenecking, then it should be able to handle any resolution above it.

Of course you can, a G4560 wont even bottleneck in most games (Worse minimums but still).

it does take load off the cpu sort of coz yes u do get lower usage most of the time but it will make the cpu bottleneck every couple of seconds which makes the frame rate jump all over the place
