LTX 2017 Aftermath

This post is for the peeps who are going to LTX2017 :)

I would be down to get a group together after the event for a dinner or something around those lines. Anyone know a good place to migrate to after the event?

Pan Pacific hotel, you get a beautiful view to Canada Place and Downtown Vancouver

Stanley Park, Gastown, our new Chinatown: Richmond (easily accessible via the Canada Line), Richmond Nightmarket is a good place for good eats (only open at night Friday - Sunday), lots more.

Though I would venture away from the East Side (Hastings and Main Street area) as it's often full of druggies.

Don't forget Capilano Bridge, the SkyTrain, etc.

TIP FOR RIDING THE SKYTRAIN: If you have a single use ticket, don't throw it out after you tap it on the gate. You can't get out without it. If you do throw it away, you have to buy a exit ticket at a machine.

ANOTHER TIP: Don't ride a taxi, expensive as hell.

EVEN MORE TIP: Traffic is horrible on all of these bridges:

Massey Tunnel, Alex Fraser, Pautllo, Lions Gate, Ironworkers, Pitt River, Mission.

It's great on these:

Port Mann*, Golden Ears*

* = tolled

LAST TIP: Take the train, it's better than car with our crappy traffic

For americans, there are no highways in Vancouver proper and barely any anywhere else

I find it funny that everyone is suggesting places to eat in Vancouver, yet the event is taking place in Langley...unless you're driving, good luck getting down there in a decent amount of time.

I think a better tip would be not to go downtown at all if you're driving, finding parking is brutal :P

This is why I'm anti-LRT. It's as slow as a bus in a exclusive lane. GO FOR THE FUCKING SKYTRAIN TRANSLINK!!!

Spoiler

In the 2012 TransLink Rapid Transit Study, RRT1A was selected as the best option. It involved SkyTrain down to Langley and BRT to Guildford and White Rock.

Sure, but they don't give buses exclusive lanes. So. Kind of a moot point.

Eh, but it's in the "RRT1A" option. A full BRT. Looks like this:

And the buses usually are articulated or bi-articulated:

But are really hard to drive :P

I'm also interested if there's an opportunity for a group to gather after the event. Nearby would be good; the point is the people not the venue (though that'd be a nice bonus if possible.)
