I have a 1TB drive in my laptop (absolutely uneccesary, the only thing I have is chrome).

I have to have Large Disk Access Mode set to "Other" even though I'm using Windows.

To avoid having to go through updates for Windows 7, I cloned my 1TB to a 160GB drive. In order to change from IDE to AHCI for the new laptop, I needed to edit the registry.

When in "Other" LDAM, my laptop throws "A Disk Read Error Occured. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart."

So I change LDAM to "DOS."

My question is, why do I need to do this? LDAM "Other" is usually reserved for Linux, and "DOS" is for Windows.
