Heya all,

So apparently Vega should be released next month or so (as from what I've read) and since that's the GPU I've been waiting for to finally upgrade my 6,5 years old PC to a completely new. My budget can't exceed €3500. Since I have an QHD Monitor I don't know if this is an overkill, I'm currently looking at Ryzen 7 1800X with the Radeon RX Vega XTX (Nova) I want to start with 2x16GB RAM with possible future upgrade to another 2x16GB. But to shorten it up here's the PC part picker build:

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/y4yFNN

There is no GPU since I'm not yet decided wheter the Vega is going to be worth it

I want to play QHD at as highest settings as possible, so that's why I choose the highest specs of CPU/GPU.

Thanks

P.S. there's no need for a "fancy" build. I chose that case because I move from my place to my parents' and I need a good transportable case (this has a handle)

To sum this up:

Budget limit is 3500€ - location Slovakia (EU)

Build is mostly for Gaming @ QHD 75Hz monitor (max settinsg 60+ fps is the goal)

I will move my SSDs and HDDs from my current PC

I also make music + sometimes I make some videos in Premiere Pro & After Effects so rendering is in

I won't be purchasing any peripherals

Well that case is pretty big, it may have a handle but it's not really portable lol.

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Yeah but don't know about other cases with a handle (though I haven't searched much)

Master case 5 has one, but IMO handles aren't that great and just a smaller size is better for portability

You don't need a 3500$ for 75Hz QHD gaming, just get a GTX 1070 build.

that's why I posted here, 3500€ is my limit so I can go anywhere from 500€ up to 3500€ but as I said I want a high quality smooth gaming on that 75 Hz QHD. And I want it to last for some time. My current 6,5 year PC does handle thing at this moment still pretty good and it's an AMD build (FX6300, HD7970, 16GB RAM, cost about 1300€ back then). My point is, that I want a build that will last at least 5 if not more years (I'm not that kind of guy that upgrades his PC a lot) Thanks

Would step down the the 1700 as it can OC to the 1800X (or at least very close). 650W would also be more than enough for your PSU (Do you also really need a dvd writer?).

Please quote our replys so we get a notification and can reply easily. Never cheap out on a PSU, or I will come to watch the fireworks.

Not really, but you never know, it's just in case, also it's not that expensive

Also a question: Is ryzen built differently as the FX series? I mean when I tried to play ArmA it lagged no matter what detail setting I had and I was told it was because of the CPU, and now when I play Playerunknown's Battlegrounds, whenever I try to open inventory the game freezes for 1/2 or 1 second (loading) but when I watch other people it opens instantly no problem whatsoever.

I also wouldn't get 16gb sticks, Ryzen doesn't like it, just get some good CAS 16 3600mhz ram for best compatibility and potential for max performance

well that sucks, I would've gone for 4x8 GB kit (I need at least 32 GB since I play a lot of Cities Skylines) and since most of the motherboards come with 4 slots I need to go with 2x16, and if Ryzen doesn't like 16GB kits, then I guess I would have to go itnel :/ which I wouldn't like to, not that they're bad but because I want to support AMD, also Intel is a bit more expensive

why do you have to have 32gb? I don't see any use for that other than massive photo editing and video editing

Double bank dims weren't liked, maybe it has changed - but if you look at AMD's specs the max memory support changes with amount of sticks and whether or not it is double sided, worst case been 4x 16gb double sided

its something like (non oc)

2x single sided = 2667mhz

4x single sided = 2400mhz

2x double sided = 2400mhz

4x double sided = 2133mhz

Now, it all depends on the CPU ofc - you maybe lucky and get good speeds. I think your best bet is 4x 8gb of Samsung B die from the list I provided. I see people generally getting at least 2933mhz and it will only improve with more updates

Like I said I play lot of cities skylines, all game assets and mods take up to 15,5 GB and I have no reserve RAM for example for Chrome, and 2x16 is because I know that in few years that will be considered standard, and buying a set of 2 is cheaper than buying a whole new set of 4. If AMD cannot handle 2x16 then maybe I'll have to go with Intel as I said...

also bump
