Urgent help needed

I can't get into Windows I'm really new to updating BIOSs and I need help on flashing it the motherboard is RS880PM-AM I have the lastest bios on a USB stick and I have the DOStool on it I don't know where to go but the original file I downloaded was a Winrar.zip archive folder I opened that opened the BIOS_Acer_P01.A4_A_A folder and there's the Dostool, ROM, Wintool, and a read me doc I read that and I don't want to mess it up otherwise I can't play games at higher frames so tell me a step by step guide how to do it without screwing it up

A bios upgrade only won't give you better performance, not that it is game changing. 

 

Do you change anything else on that notebook?

No its for a desktop to see if it can boot into windows

ah the ECS Mainboard... 

 

You can boot to dos, and use the dos prompt like in the howto. 

 

Or what I mostly do, if the machine doesn't support flash from inside of the bios, the winflash version... yes I know, more unreliable than flashing in dos, but never had any issues really. Just don't forget to reset the bios afterwards, and don't turn the system off while flashing is ongoing.

I know enough not to turn it off and how do I reset the bios (taking out the CMOS battery?)

Most boards got a jumper for that, some more modern ones even a small switch, if your board has non of this, yes take out the battery, put in a coin the size of the battery, pull the power plug, push the power button while no power connected, then take out the coin, put back in the battery, plug power back in and power on.

WHAAAAAA?!  No, no, no, no, NO!  All you need to do is pull the battery.  Don't put ANYTHING inside the battery tray.

I usually don't put in a coin as well, but a trained technician from Alternate.de told me to do so, so that the rest power will dissipate faster.

If you're going to use the DOS tool to update the BIOS, then you need to make a bootable flash drive (one that boots to DOS).  Is there a BIOS flash option from within the BIOS itself?

I'd rather wait a minute or two, than risk something shorting out.

No there isn't an option to flash the BIOS in the BIOS

Then you'll need to make a bootable USB flash drive (or a floppy disk, if you still have one), that boots to DOS.  Unfortunately, I have to get back to work now, as my lunch hour is up, so I can't walk you through the process.  However, you should be able to find what you need online.  Rufus would probably be the best option for making a bootable flash drive.

Only one beep can't get into windows, can't install windows, can't delete system 32, can't update bios, only can get into bios

One beep when powering on is normal. Is the motherboard new? From your laptop download bios exactly for this board and put file into usb flash drive. Then run EZ flash within the bios, and select bios file to update. Might want to run the usb drive as FAT or FAT32. Let it do its job. restart when it tells you too, not when you think it's finished.

It's not that motherboard it's RS880PM-AM and it's been used and I couldn't get it to boot into anything with that motherboard

Fine, skip the bios update. go into bios and set everything to default and save.

Try to boot from a windows DVD and use a optical drive not a USB.
