cpu no cooler

I saw this a little while back and didn't think much of it, but I've since answered a few questions on the topic of booting modern cpus without coolers, while not a recommended practice, it's unlikely to damage your hardware as long as it's functioning properly, I don't know of anyone trying this stunt with ryzen though so perhaps take some care to not do so (or do at your own risk and let us know how it goes) anyway, shutting up and...

Are you suggesting people that it is safe to boot a CPU without a cooler?

I have yet see a CPU that can be powered on for more than 10 seconds without a cooler, even low tdp laptop cpus need coolers.

well, the video says not to try it at home, and I certainly never said it was a good idea

Same here, but some first time builders might make that mistake on accident, as evidenced by the amount of times I've seen the subject just this week

well, you can see it in the video, someone posted earlier about running their cpu 3 years without the cooler making contact

sure, just let me turn off hyperthreading and drop the cpu mult to 3. This was more so people could see it can be done without exploding components, but it's still a dumb freaking thing to do because even with the protections making the chance of damage low there's still a chance, at least until the magic smoke...

you can decrease multiplier all you want but you cant increase voltage that dramatically, it will still overheat rendering it useless.

I'm pretty confident that it wouldn't get hot enough for me to be really concerned, probably wouldn't even boot, or it would be hilarious, longest m.2 drive boot time ever

Idk, maybe @Slick can get a workshop to happen, at least it would bear a better chance at interesting results
