Only in the form of gift cards unless a slim model is introduced. Which I highly doubt... Rarely does a console get a second iteration/revision within its first year on the market. I'd imagine that Sony will be trying to lower production costs on this as soon as possible so they can turn a profit on hardware (which a slim model will achieve) so it's definitely not out of the realm of possibilities.

Didnt the PS3 drop in price by like $100 after a year?

 

That was because the PS3 was like 599(i think) when released and was just too expensive for the average joe.
