Hello to everyone on the forum,

I've been following and researching the "new" gear/parts for quite a while now to the point where now AMD have a competitive chip on the market.

Now I'm an Intel and ASUS fanboy, so please spare me for my choice of hardware.

The idea behind my build is to have a PC tower at home that can be used for everyday stuff on a nice screen (IPS preferable) plus the occasional video editing photo editing, 3D rendering & modeling, gaming + streaming games to Nvidia Shield on a 4K TV. One more thing that I'm not very familiar with is playing media files on the PC and stream watching them on the TV, don't even know if this is an option and how it works, is there quality losses etc.

I've listed my choice of hardware and I'm open to suggestions on what can be changed in order to have a better optimized PC for every task, but also to keep it realistically priced under $3500 USD (lower is better of course).

Thanks in advance for the suggestions!

Cheers!

--- PC PARTS ---

CPU: Intel - Core i7-7700K
CPU Cooler: Corsair - H115i OR Noctua - NH-D15
Motherboard: Asus - MAXIMUS IX HERO ATX LGA1151 Z270
Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 (at this point 32GB doesn't make sense for my work. As far as RAM modules perhaps something more stylish will be better?)

Storage: Samsung - 960 EVO 500GB M.2-2280 SSD
Storage: Western Digital - BLACK SERIES 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM
Video Card: Asus - GeForce GTX 1070 OR 1080 (Not entirely sure about 1080 Ti)
Case: Fractal Design - Define R5 w/Window (White) (I wan't to see the parts but keep it silent and clean from dust)
Power Supply: Corsair - 750W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX
Operating System: Microsoft - Windows 10 Pro OEM 64-bit
Monitor: Asus - MG279Q 27.0" 2560x1440 144Hz OR (a nice not very expensive IPS Ultra Wide @ 2650x1080 resolution)

Sounds like a nice build.

But from own experiences, even though you get less dust into your machine, very fine dust will come through, so use a can of air every 6-12 months...  (I got the Fractal Design Define XL 2 and yes it is nearly soundless)

Main System:

Anghammarad : Asrock Taichi x570, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X @4900 MHz. 32 GB DDR4 3600, some NVME SSDs, Gainward Phoenix RTX 3070TI

System 2 "Igluna" AsRock Fatal1ty Z77 Pro, Core I5 3570k @4300, 16 GB Ram DDR3 2133, some SSD, and a 2 TB HDD each, Gainward Phantom 760GTX.

System 3 "Inskah" AsRock Fatal1ty Z77 Pro, Core I5 3570k @4300, 16 GB Ram DDR3 2133, some SSD, and a 2 TB HDD each, Gainward Phantom 760GTX.

On the Road: Acer Aspire 5 Model A515-51G-54FD, Intel Core i5 7200U, 8 GB DDR4 Ram, 120 GB SSD, 1 TB SSD, Intel CPU GFX and Nvidia MX 150, Full HD IPS display

Media System "Vio": Aorus Elite AX V2, Ryzen 7 5700X, 64 GB Ram DDR4 3200 Mushkin, 1 275 GB Crucial MX SSD, 1 tb Crucial MX500 SSD. IBM 5015 Megaraid, 4 Seagate Ironwolf 4TB HDD in raid 5, 4 WD RED 4 tb in another Raid 5, Gainward Phoenix GTX 1060

(Abit Fatal1ty FP9 IN SLI, C2Duo E8400, 6 GB Ram DDR2 800, far too less diskspace, Gainward Phantom 560 GTX broken need fixing)

Nostalgia: Amiga 1200, Tower Build, CPU/FPU/MMU 68EC020, 68030, 68882 @50 Mhz, 10 MByte ram (2 MB Chip, 8 MB Fast), Fast SCSI II, 2 CDRoms, 2 1 GB SCSI II IBM Harddrives, 512 MB Quantum Lightning HDD, self soldered Sync changer to attach VGA displays, WLAN

I know you say you're an Intel fanboy, but Ryzen will be great for your needs, so that's what I'm recommending;

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 7 1700 3.0GHz 8-Core Processor  ($269.99 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: be quiet! - Dark Rock Pro 3 67.8 CFM Fluid Dynamic Bearing CPU Cooler  ($83.78 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: Asus - STRIX X370-F GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard  ($189.99 @ B&H)
Memory: G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory  ($126.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung - 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($163.99 @ B&H)
Storage: Seagate - Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($66.89 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: EVGA - GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB SC Black Edition Video Card  ($739.99 @ Amazon)
Case: Fractal Design - Define C with Window ATX Mid Tower Case  ($69.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Power Supply: SeaSonic - X Series 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($119.90 @ Amazon)
Monitor: Acer - XB271HU bmiprz 27.0" 2560x1440 165Hz Monitor  ($699.99 @ Newegg)
Keyboard: Corsair - K70 RGB RAPIDFIRE Wired Gaming Keyboard  ($139.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $2671.49

You can afford a 1080Ti, no reason not to IMO. Especially since even GTX 1080s are rising price now since the GTX 1070s are getting around the $500 mark. You can swap the 850 EVO for a 960 EVO or 960 PRO if you want, or just add a 960 EVO/PRO alongside the 850 EVO, as you still have plenty of money left. SLI support so you can add a 2nd GTX 1080Ti at any point if you want. The Strafe is a great keyboard, but the K70 is better. RGB K70 with MX Speed's is 10/10. You could get it with MX Browns or maybe MX Blues instead if you prefer those switches. I also included a nice IPS, 165Hz, 1440p monitor with G-Sync support.

Intel alternative if you must;

Motherboard: Asus - STRIX Z270F ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($179.88 @ OutletPC)

Total: $2701.38

You can swap the 6700k for the 7700k if you want, but I wouldn't bother since temperatures on the 7700k are tragic.
