What CPU do you intend to use with an X299 motherboard?

depends on if you are going to use it for multithreaded tasks. if you only want gaming, go 7700K, or if you want gaming and some editing stuff, go ryzen.

not really unless you want maybe 5% better IPC over ryzen

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

but what are yougoing to be using this PC for? just gaming and web browsing or some professional stuff like editing and rendering? (multithreaded workoads)

That morning when you wake up and realise you need a more original account name...

X299 is only good value if you are running heavy AVX2/AVX512 workloads, otherwise Ryzen is much better value.

If you do not care about cost and willing to spend nearly twice as much for 20-30% more performance, then go for it.

It doesn't matter if you're "in to" AMD or not. depending on your use case and/or budget, it can be a better option by miles.

But seeing as you still haven't stated your use case, its hard to judge...

Yeah for what you want you should instead get a x370 board with the ryzen 7 1700, throw the 1080ti on it and you're set for all you listed.

When buying Ryzen you need a good and reliable 3000~3200mhz memory ram.
