For a relatively inexpensive computer, accessories and peripherals is what REALLY costs money.

not really, you can always find cheaper alternatives, things like RGB or bunch of extra fans are not necessary.

Plus depending when you buy the parts, the "cost" of the same setup today compared to 2 years ago will be MUCH cheaper.

It's the price you have to pay if you want to have the "best of the best" or "a decent setup".

Yea.... I paid about 80$ total on my 4 monitors buying 2nd hand. One 27inch, 2 17 inch and one 13 inch. My computer features many used components and comes in at about 800$. I think my keyboard was 3$ 2nd hand. I splerged on my mouse (60$ new). My whole set up including the desk and chair was probably only a bit over 1000$ and it is a pretty over kill set up. I guess that's mostly becouse I am a deal hunter.

True, most of my components help me out a lot. I use the LED strip as a white backlight because my office doesn't have built in lights. The stuff I didn't need the most would be the silent parts of the build, like Be Quiet fans and full SSDs. The standing desk was partially a gift because I was going to build a desk but it was more cost effective to buy a frame and use a laminate top from my work. Since this is my main hobby I tend to spend more money I need on it.

It is sickening to build a good computer for $1000 and sell it for under $400, but that's how electronics work.

My first computer was about $500 for everything, I bought a lot of used components and had a Phenom II x4 965 and a 7750 with a Lenovo monitor from BestBuy.

Awesome. I paid 250$ for my base system which had a R9 280 witch I sold for 130$ meaning I essentially scored a i7 4770, Dell motherboard, 12g of ram, 750w psu, and phenom case for 120$ which was an even better deal back then as that was over a year ago.

Ohh and he also tossed in a pair of Dell computer speakers with a sub and volume knob which I still use in my set up today.

Yeah that is quite the system for the price, 12GB of ram nearly sells for $120 today.
