Powerful ultrabook

Looking for a powerful ultra book for engineering school. Would much rather just have something that can handle light engineering tasks and be great t everything else and easy to carry around. For intensive engineering work I will just go to computer lab. (EE major)

 

about 1200-1500 budget with nice 2-3 year warranty included in price preferably.

This is exactly what I was going to suggest - about as thin and lightweight as a 2017 MacBook Amateur, but with the ports a professional would need to actually get shit done. I recently bought my XPS 15 9560 and love it for everything it is. Mine is the i7-7700HQ, 16GB, 512GB, FHD model, and I don't notice any ghosting on my particular unit. That being said, people still seem to be generally happier with the 4K IPS panel overall, even though Windows and other software still have garbage scaling for 4K displays.

What do you use your machine for? Any thermal issues or anything like that?
