you need to have a phone that is able to run whatsapp in order to use whatsapp web or the desktop version. If you don't have one, you can't use it.

Use some other messenger/chattool like skype which runs without a phone

Why would you need an emulator? You just have to download WhatsApp from their website. I am sure every laptop can run it.

 

EDIT: Whatsapp needs a cell phone with internet access to run. So yeah sorry.

Whatsupp needs phone number to register user and phone to enable desktop functions. Though you can use tablet with sim slot too. Otherwise you need to use other messenger apps, some which uses website as basis for accounts. Like Skype or Facebook.
