Replacement for a Nexus 9?

I love my N9. Its slim, well proportioned, looks nice, runs (until recently) the latest version of stock clean Android, and with an epic cashback offer I got it brand new for £150ish.

 

But I also hate my N9. No matter what I do its just so slow! Its sluggish and laggy and a chore to use. Its like it no matter what version of Android I use, including things from Cyanogen etc. It also gets stupid hot. This seems to be a common theme with them across the net.

 

What options are there to replace it? I'd want something about the same size, slim, light, stock Android, but most importantly fast and not full if the lag and slowdown issues. And it needs to be cheap.

There's not a whole lot of stock android tablets, the only option that runs reasonably well would be the Nvidia Sheild K1.

Couple of hundred £ at most. 

 

Seems the tablet range has gone quiet with companies preferring to make large phones.

It has a few nvidia apps but other than that it runs stock.
