radeon 6970 too hot?

so i recently bought a sapphire 6970 flex edition i was hoping i would get temps like 70 to 75 at max load but in this case i'm getting more i'm getting 84 degrees at high on bf4. 1080p is this normal for 6970 cards?

Yeah, that's normal for most GPUs. It's even normal for the Radeon R9-290X to run at 95 degrees C. 

I like the color scheme of Noctua fans. Deal with it. Forget about the bad memories of the past.

I like my Radeon HD 6570 with the IceQ cooler. Never goes above 41C, EVER. But performance... Yikes.

If you can, get software like MSi Afterburner and make your own custom fan profile. That way, you can adjust your fan RPM to be higher or lower at certain temperatures or at whatever points you feel more tolerable. For reference, my R6950 regularly hits 50C while folding / gaming and tops out at 60C while benchmarking, with a custom profile. On the stock profile, it hits 75C + no problem (albeit on a reference cooler)

hey now dont max out your fans or they will not last as long, once them fans die your cooling ability will be reduced a lot.

Even my 460s dont get that. 70-74c. And this is with single fan coolers.
